Tax law is constantly in flux, and never more so than during the current Bush presidency. And while tax is often considered dull, is it any duller than Sarbanes-Oxley? Tax law is purposely vague. Audits, and the tax law they create through IRS court cases, creates billions of dollars more for this industry. Tax law is already quite complex. The addition of rapidly proliferating patents on tax planning techniques and concepts will render tax compliance much more difficult.
Tax law is divided into both federal tax and state tax. While some states do not have an income tax, all residents and citizens of the United States are subject to federal income tax.
