Energy Transfer’s Profitable PartnershipIn the Barnett Shale, where Chesapeake Energy (NYSE: CHK) and XTO Energy (NYSE: XTO) are active producers, ETP recently completed two more pipelines.
Energy Transfer Partners is a master limited partnership primarily engaged in natural-gas transportation and storage. The partnership operates more than 12,000 miles of natural-gas gathering and intrastate transportation pipelines in Texas and Louisiana and the 2,500-mile Transwestern interstate pipeline. Energy Transfer Partners, L.P., through its subsidiaries, engages in the natural gas midstream, and intrastate transportation and storage businesses in the United States. The company’s intrastate transportation and storage operations focus on transporting natural gas from various natural gas producing areas through connections with other pipeline systems. Energy Transfer Partners intends to finance more than 50% of the purchase price with equity, to be issued prior to or simultaneous with closing. Upon closing, Energy Transfer Partners expects the transaction to be immediately accretive to its common unitholders.
