Barnett Shale Gas

Barnett Shale Gas

Barnett shale gas will be assessed after mapping sweet spots and outlying areas of potential, and by defining distributions of drainage (cell) size and cell estimated ultimate recovery. An example of a Barnett sweet spot is the Greater Newark East area where thick, siliceous Barnett has reached the gas window, and overlain and underlain by impermeable limestones that serve as frac barriers. Barnett shale gas seems to be non-economic at today’s prices. Would it also be non-economic at higher prices?

Oilfield equipment such as piping and storage tanks, with NORM, above the regulatory threshold is subject to DSHS regulation. Transfer of NORM-containing equipment is allowed provided the equipment is reused in oil and gas operations. Oil has also been found in lesser quantities, but sufficient (with recent high oil prices) to be commercially viable. Oil and Gas Experts have suggested that it may be the largest onshore natural gas field in the US although new estimates from the newly discovered Marcellus Formation in Appalachia may equal the Barnett. The field is proven to have 2.5 trillion cu.

Texas Railroad Commission guidelines call for 320 acres for a horizontal well. Landowners with smaller acreages often pool them together to have enough land for a well. Texas) with conventional and pressure coring equipment in the upper and lower Barnett to obtain core samples and data to obtain data required to estimate the gas-in-place volume stored by each mechanism. An extensive suite of data was measured that included desorption of samples to determine the sorbed gas content and gas composition as well as methane and ethane sorption isotherm data to estimate the sorbed gas storage capacity.

Perhaps the bloom is off the rose, and it is not economically viable to continue to pay quarter royalties to obtain leases on unproven acreage. The Barnett shale is expensive to drill and to produce. Perception is reality, so it will be good to pay attention. Perhaps you can print some information from the web site to give to these neighbors and print and share these emailed info updates with them.

Production flow is up the casing due to tubing shortages. As of July 21st, gas sales have stabilized at approximately were 320 Mcf per day with a flowing casing pressure of 350 psi on a 30/64″ choke. Production averaged 254,000 boe/d (211,000 boe/d after royalties) for the second quarter. The shut down of the Forties pipeline by a two-day labour strike at the Grangemouth refinery in Scotland caused us to temporarily shut in our North Sea production. Production grew from 80 MMCF/D in January 2000 to over 560 MMCF/D in 2003 because of accelerated new-well drilling and old-well reworks/refracs (Figure 1 ). In 2003 the field also produced approximately 2400 bbls of condensate a day; an additional 25,000 bbls a day of gas liquids were processed out of Barnett gas production.

Investors, the news media and the public may listen to a live internet broadcast of the meeting at http://www.dteenergy.com/investors . The telephone dial-in numbers are (877) 856-1968 or (719) 325-4818. Investors live in fear of having their interests in a technology destroyed by regulation/govt. This happens with regularity as some crony or other arranges some “deal” with the political class. Investors are urged to consider closely the disclosure in EOG’s Annual Report on Form 10-K for fiscal year ended December 31, 2006, available from EOG at P.O. You can also obtain this form from the SEC by calling 1-800-SEC-0330 or from the SEC’s website at www.sec.gov .

Investors are directed to consider such risks and other uncertainties discussed in documents filed by the Company with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

McElreath says his crews didn’t have any problems boring through the hard rock and exiting on the other side of the drainage culvert. He says they used Baroid BORE-GEL™ and pre-reamed with a 14-inch backreamer before pulling back the 8-inch steel pipe. McElreath said they typically turn to the D100×120 when installing large pipe and boring more than 800 ft.
