Global climate change is caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the lower atmosphere. The global concentration of these gases is increasing, mainly due to human activities, such as the combustion of fossil fuels (which release carbon dioxide) and deforestation (because forests remove carbon from the atmosphere). Global climate change is a hot topic these days. As an educator, as a parent, or as a concerned individual, it can be difficult to know where to go for balanced, quality information. Global climate change is real. The vast majority of the world’s leading scientific experts agree that greenhouse gases (GHG) affect climate by increasing the “greenhouse effect.”.The gases concentrate in the Earth’s atmosphere and trap heat by blocking some of the long-wave energy the Earth normally radiates back to space.
